Meetings

Our meetings are held at the Pacific Mariners Yacht Club — 13915 Panay Way, Marina del Rey — at 7:00pm on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month.

Meeting Schedule

The official meeting start time is 7:00pm. It's ok to arrive earlier or later but best for new-comers arrive by 7:15. Everyone signs in at the Single Mariners table. The meeting donation is $7 in cash, paid at this time. We ask for your email address (so we can add you to our bulletin board). We also give newcomers a waiver to sign. You will receive a name badge so we know you're part of our group.

At dinner, everyone takes a plate and is served salad, entree, and sometimes dessert. Then we take our plates to the back area or front of the club and sit down to a meal. (While we usually have a nice meal, this is all volunteer so we don't promise it will always be a full dinner.)

Following dinner, there will be a formal meeting led by an officer. During this time skippers will offer a sign up sheet for their boats for the following sailing day. We introduce skippers and new members. This gives you a chance to know something about each other and about the boats.

From time to time we'll have something for you to learn about boating thanks to guest instructors from the Coast Guard or such. On these dates we'll adjust the times, perhaps getting our dinner and returning to the back room.

After the meeting, there is a newcomer orientation with Fleet Captain Alan. During this time, new members find out the structure of our club, meeting times & locations, as well as have any questions answered. Club members are welcome to sit in and ask questions as well!

Everyone is encouraged to stay and dance, play games, etc.
(If you have a good party mix CD you're willing to share so we can dance, please bring it.)

Taking Care of PMYC

We meet at PMYC as guests of the club, with the understanding that we'll clean up after ourselves. When we're done eating we clean up our dishes and silverware and shine up the kitchen. We also return our chairs to the chair stacks.

Food

For each meeting a member volunteers to take care of dinner. This can be as simple as picking up frozen ravioli and some sauce at Costco or Smart and Final, then cooking it at the club, or if you're a bit crazy you're welcome to cook a meal. We reimburse you for your costs.

Parking

You can park about half way down Panay Way in the lot on the left where there's a boating shop, then walk along the water to PMYC. Don't worry about the signs--you are our guests! There are signs prohibiting parking on the street and cars have been ticketed there. Please park in a parking lot to avoid fines.
